Our Debut on This Old House!

Andrew and Dee This Old House Bedford

So we are getting ready for the airing of our first This Old House episode this weekend, and everyone at Elms Interior Design is very excited! In this episode (#8 of the season), we show host Kevin O’Connor a project that we previously completed in Cambridge and that inspired the Bedford project’s new kitchen design.

The house is a gut renovation of an old worker’s cottage dating from 1877, and Becky Titlow (this season’s TOH homeowner) immediately responded to photos of the home’s great new kitchen space.  We walk Kevin through the first floor of the home, touch on our design inspirations, and explain how the elements of the project will translate to Becky and Joe’s antique home in Bedford.

Be sure to tune in to the show to get a glimpse of our progress to date. Note that show times vary depending on your viewing area, so check the This Old House website for specific show times and dates or watch the webcast of our first episode beginning next week. In the meantime, Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!!!

Almost Time – The Bedford House

Next week we will be installing our This Old House project in Bedford. Time sure does fly. It seems like just yesterday we were meeting with the homeowners for the first time and talking about all of our ideas for the house.

We will be meeting the Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams delivery truck early on Monday morning, and we won’t be stopping until we are done. Our first episode airs Thanksgiving weekend. In the meantime, you will just have to make due with a few photos of the progress to date. Stay tuned for updates!

Summer is Over – Wrapping Up the Bedford House Project

And now it’s almost WRAP time!  We are now only 9 weeks away from the wrap of the This Old House Bedford project! The homeowners Becky and Joe Titlow have been fantastic to work with, and we are really excited about everything we are doing with their home.

Right now the house is a full blown construction site, but we are told it will all be completed and ready for us in a few short weeks.  Here’s a glimpse of the great color palette we are working on.

This Old House, Our Latest Project

Dee and I just returned from our first visit to This Old House’s next restoration project – a really beautiful antique in Bedford, Mass. – where we’ve been selected to work as this season’s interior designers.

The homeowners are a really nice young couple with an adorable 18 month old daughter and an exciting, and very public, few months ahead for them.  Demolition has already begun and the house is wired with webcams so viewers can check in on the project at anytime – it’s a very state-of-the-art job site nestled intoa very old house.

Today’s filming  –  centered on the foundation for the new family room addition – was just getting started as we were leaving and the place was alive with producers, directors, contractors…and the owners’ three dogs!  It is really quite a production.  Stay tuned for more in the months ahead and for the season premeire on October 6th, 2011!
