Converting a historic 1920s two-family home into a spacious single-family residence for a family of five was a vision of outsize proportions.  To maximize the property’s full potential, the house was lifted to make a new foundation, expanding the square footage and elevating ceiling heights in the basement. The result is a modern home that blends comfort and style with room to thrive.

The redesigned interiors blend contemporary and classic elements, anchored in a refined palette of neutrals. The airy rooms are tailored to generous proportions made for movement and invite natural light from strategically placed steel and glass windows and doors.

From the front porch, a high-gloss cactus green door opens into an ethereal foyer featuring wide plank floors and walls wrapped in pearly Venetian plaster. Natural light bounces throughout, illuminating a striking hand-carved staircase that evokes Parisian vibes with elegant curves.

Mixed-media lighting fixtures double as sculptural elements in all the rooms and above the stair landings. Patterned wallcoverings and curated modern art add a stylish throughline with colorful accents and a touch of whimsy. The transitions between spaces—like the steel and glass doors between the dining area and kitchen, and an interior window that separates the kitchen and the family room—bestow light and a feeling of expansiveness that inspires social gathering and artful living.
