Glam Seaport High-Rise
Location:
Boston, MA
In a high-rise steel-and-glass residential complex overlooking Boston Seaport, the client wanted us to design a space that exuded femininity and bold luxury.
Creating seamless continuity as well as privacy in a nearly 2,700-square-feet of open space required a thoughtful approach and some clever engineering. We custom-designed a 26-foot-long built-in unit made of bleached oak, which conceals doors and creates both hidden and visible storage. The wall unit houses a fireplace and, above the hearth, a stowaway space for a TV behind two cabinet doors.
An inset bar sits behind a pair of closed pocket doors. A spacious dining nook with a custom bench and double pedestal table is also integrated, adjacent to the open kitchen and marble-clad island. Deep ebony floors provide an exquisite balance to the bright, airy space.
For the surrounding walls, a palette of creamy neutrals sets the backdrop for plush textiles and sleek furniture forms. Suspended over the kitchen island are a trio of deep amethyst-hued diamond pendant lights, a color that’s peppered throughout the home. A tube chandelier made of black patinated stainless steel in the den draws the gaze to a casual corner. A gray glass and satin nickel globe chandelier in the foyer illuminates the ultra-glam high gloss space overhead.
The monochromatic treatment in the primary bedroom is a moment for unexpected drama. Floor-to-ceiling drapery hangs behind a velvet channel-tufted headboard. Inky, midnight blue grasscloth wallcovering brings a rich, jewel-toned warmth to the walls. Above the side tables hangs a trio of natural quartz pendants, adding a glint of jewelry to a room that exudes luxury.
